Lahore Board Goes Fully Digital with Paperless System

The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE Lahore) has officially decided to move all office work online, shifting to a paperless digital system. Meanwhile, this significant step aims to replace the old manual handling of records and correspondence, making the system faster, more secure, and transparent.

Well, the move is being carried out with the help of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) under its e-Filing and Office Automation System (e-FOAS). With this system, daily tasks such as file tracking, correspondence, and record management will now be handled electronically.

Digital Shift with PITB’s e-FOAS

Officials have confirmed that the digitization of BISE Lahore will modernize the board’s operations. Through e-FOAS, every file and correspondence can be traced easily, reducing the risk of tampering or loss. The new system also promises faster decision-making, as employees will no longer rely on lengthy paper-based processes.

While most services will go online, the issuance of student certificates will continue through the traditional manual system for now. However, officials have assured that the digital framework will be gradually expanded.

Security Measures for Staff

To ensure safe use of the system, each branch has been directed to:

  • Keep login details secure.
  • Update passwords regularly.
  • Avoid sharing accounts with unauthorized individuals.

However, this step will prevent misuse and make the digital shift more reliable.

Benefits of Going Paperless

According to officials, the BISE Lahore digital system will:

  • Improve transparency and accountability.
  • Minimize delays caused by paperwork.
  • Reduce dependency on physical files.
  • Make it easier to verify and trace records.

Moreover, the digital filing system has already shown positive results in other government departments, including the Civil Secretariat, where record-keeping has become more efficient.

A Model for Other Boards

The digital transformation of the Lahore Board is expected to serve as a model for other educational boards across Punjab and Pakistan. By reducing paperwork, improving record management, and ensuring transparency. This initiative reflects the government’s vision of a modern, tech-driven education system.

However, as Lahore Board embraces a fully online office system, students, teachers, and staff will benefit from faster services and improved efficiency.
